Barbie is an actress who lives in Malibu, California with her sisters Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea. The girls dream of having the perfect Christmas in New York, but things don't go to plan.

Story[]

Barbie, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea plan on spending Christmas in New York with their aunt, Millicent. Barbie and her aunt have front row tickets to a Broadway show on 42nd street. Each sister thinks they will have the perfect Christmas in New York. Barbie picks up their stockings and the girls board their flight.

On the plane, Skipper works on a song that she is writing for her friend Zoe. Zoe's band will play the song at a gig in New York, and Skipper wants to livestream it. Barbie offers to show the song to bands that she knows, but Skipper says she doesn't need any help. Due to a snowstorm, the plane is forced to land. Barbie promises her sisters they will get to New York, so she tries to drive to Minneapolis so they can try a bigger airport. Barbie drives for hours and gets lost.

The girls find the Tannenbaum Inn and meet Christie Clauson and the Elif family. Barbie and her sisters help them to wrap presents for a toy drive. The girls stay at the inn for the night. Their morning flight gets cancelled because of another snowstorm, but Barbie maintains her promise that they will get to New York. Privately, Barbie confides in Christie that she feels like she will have to take the perfect Christmas away from her sisters because of promises she couldn't keep. Christie says that the perfect Christmas is a feeling that can't be taken away, and she encourages Barbie to wish on a star. Barbie wishes that she and her sisters will have the perfect Christmas.

The next day, on Christmas Eve, Skipper says they may not be able to travel for days because of all the snow. Barbie says they can go to New York next year, but her sisters still feel disappointed. Barbie hangs their stockings on a window sill so Santa can find them. Barbie sees reindeer outside. They go outside and see shelter dogs dressed as Santa's reindeer. They girls later find the real reindeer and follow the herd to a barn filled with hundreds of wrapped gifts.

After playing in the snow with her sisters and a dog named Rudy, Barbie and her sisters meet Brian. Brian has a band with no lead singer, and he is a fan of Skipper's video blog. Barbie suggests that Skipper perform with Brian's band at the inn. Skipper likes the idea, but wants to arrange the concert without any help. Skipper poses the idea to Brian's band and they agree. Christie and the Elifs try to help prepare the concert while Barbie makes decorations.

When Barbie is done making decorations, she goes outside the inn to see how the concert preparation is going. Skipper instructed Christie and the Elifs not to make any decisions without her permission, so some things have not been decided because Skipper is too busy rehearsing. Stacie and Chelsea are supposed to do a showcase for the shelter dogs before Skipper's performance, but Stacie wants to do it alone. Skipper feels stressed by all the decision-making she has to do, so she snaps at Chelsea. Chelsea runs away with Rudy.

Skipper assumes that Barbie usually plans big events by herself, but Barbie informs Skipper that she always has a lot of help. Skipper says she finds it hard to measure up to Barbie, so Barbie compliments Skipper and reminds her that Brian was impressed by Skipper's video blog, which Skipper made by herself. Skipper thinks that was the perfect thing to say. Barbie and Skipper share a hug. Some dogs run amok and ruin the concert set up, and everyone realizes Chelsea is missing. Everybody searches for Chelsea, and her sisters find her in the barn.

Barbie is relieved to find Chelsea is safe. Chelsea says she ran away because she thought people would be happier without her around. Skipper and Stacie tell her that is untrue, and they love having her around. The sisters share a group hug. The girls notice that the presents in the barn are all gone and have been replaced by decorations, a stage and chairs for an audience. Their stockings are also there and are filled with presents. Chelsea thinks this was Santa's present for them, and Christie implies that Chelsea is right.

Christie insists that they have the concert in the barn. Skipper allows people to help her. Before the concert, Barbie hands out drinks to the audience. When Skipper performs, Barbie, Stacie and Chelsea join her on stage. The girls get a standing ovation and find out that Millicent was watching them. Millicent compliments their performance, and then everybody goes outside and sings a Christmas carol while holding hands around a Christmas tree.

Personality[]

Barbie is responsible, caring and optimistic, though her optimism can sometimes give people false hope. She loves Christmas and spending time with her family. She is very determined to get to New York because she desperately wants her sisters to have the perfect Christmas.
