Description[]
The Assistant Principal to Principal Simmons at International High School. He's described as a tall bespectacled man with a dimpled chin and a wispy pencil mustache. He has shiny, well-groomed black hair that's usually parted in the middle. He suffers from a bad case of allergies, often sneezing and appearing with red, watery eyes. Unlike the principal, his name tag sports no jokes, revealing he's a bit more rigid.
When Mr. Toussaint has the class shout his favorite saying, "Writing-Honesty=Truth", Assist. Principal Merlin peeks his head in to see what the noise is all about. Instead of telling the truth, Mr. Toussaint told him the students were just "clearing their throats", revealing he's not as open to modern and innovative teaching methods that are disruptive.
Assist. Principal Merlin often gives announcements on the P.A. system. He leaves inspirational quotes, such as "Every day is a blank page in the notebook of life. What will you write upon yours today?"
He is first introduced in New York, Here We Come.
